Tiny House, Tiny Footprint

Tiny House, Tiny Footprint

We were recently interviewed by Kathleen who, with her boyfriend, runs a really great blog and website about living small. They call it Tiny House, Tiny Footprint.

From their website:

Kathleen, Greg, and their dog Blaize are living in a 1969 camper trailer (140 sq. ft.), hoping to inspire others to get small and reduce their environmental footprint. Almost a year ago, the trio moved into a camper to see if they could live small while they built a tiny house. Soon they realized that building a tiny house ($20,000+) and putting a down payment on raw land ($20,000+) would be an expensive process.

As the two of them began to embrace living more simply, they began to wonder why they wanted to invest in a tiny house in the first place. Now, they are content living in their own version of a ‘tiny house’ as they share stories of others making the conscious decision to downsize and lead a life full of freedom and adventure.

When the Road is Home

When the Road is Home

Loma, CO—After a desolate stretch across the Utah desert, we exited I70 near the Colorado border and pulled into a sleepy town for gas. As we drove up to the pump, we noticed another little camper fueling up beside us. As luck would have it, this sweet 1968 Oasis belonged to two fellow adventurers who also are in the midst of a Kickstarter-funded travel project!

When the Road is Home is a collaboration between photographers Daniel Volland and Ben Schuyler. They are traveling the county documenting and sharing stories of other road dwellers they meet along the way. We were thrilled to have run into these two kindred spirits, and enjoyed spending a half hour hanging out back behind the station on that hot August day.

Daniel and Ben took the time to learn about our project, photograph the egg, and write up an interview for their Roadsteaders series. Check out the piece and be sure to learn more about When the Road is Home.

FStoppers Interview

FStoppers Interview

Rifle, CO—I recently had the pleasure of being interviewed by Mike Wilkinson, staff writer for Fstoppers, about how Jess and I live and work on the road. It was a lot of fun thinking through Mike’s questions and he did a great job weaving all my ramblings together.

Squamish, BC

Squamish, BC

Squamish, British Columbia—The Egg left Montana shortly after our last official project for Year 1, the photoshoot with nature-inspired metalsmith April Hale. After saying goodbye to our hosts in Missoula, we made our way further west towards Spokane by way of Coeur D’Alene where we stopped for a brief, but needed dip in Lake Coeur D’Alene. I think the temps were in the upper 90’s that day and the beautiful lake was filled with folks stand-up paddling, boating, swimming, and kayaking. It was amazing!
